Not only does the M300 weigh less than two bags of sugar, it's also one of the smallest, slenderest notebooks we've ever seen. You'll have no trouble carrying this around - in fact, you'll hardly notice it's there. But being thin and light aren't the only things that determine how portable a laptop is. To really be fit for life on the road, a laptop has to be able to take the inevitable bumps and knocks.
Generally, the Portege is well-made and sturdy - the main part of the chassis feels solid and has no delicate flaps or port covers that could come loose. Our only reservation is with the quality of the lid, which has to protect the screen, and which flexes rather alarmingly.
